How to get to Mountain High Retreat:

From Yerevan to Mountain High Retreat

Option 1: By Car (Approx. 2.5 hours)

  1. Start in Yerevan and head north on the M4 highway (Sevan Highway).
  2. Drive Sevan, staying on the M4.
  3. Just before reaching Dilijan Tunnel, take the exit toward Tsovaghyugh and Semyonovka.
  4. Drive through Semyonovka village until to get the the SIGN
  5. From the SIGN, take the forest road eastward toward Mountain High Retreat (about 7–8 km depending on the trail used).
  6. Follow signs or GPS coordinates provided by the retreat, as this stretch includes off-road sections—a 4WD vehicle is necessary.

Option 2: By Car or Public Transport + Hike or Pickup

  • Drive or take a minibus (marshrutka) or taxi from Yerevan to Tsovagyugh and then to Semyonovka.
  • You can park your car safely in Semyonovka (please contact MHR for arranging you safe parking in Semyonovka)
  • Then move eastward from the SIGN to MHR through Semyonovka – Khashtarak farm – MHR path, approximately 8km or 40-50 minutes, or through Khachardzan river gorge about 7km or about 40-50 minutes. Please contact MHR in advance in case you need a hiking guide or transfer to MHR (see below).

From Semyonovka to Mountain High Retreat

Distance: Approx. 7–8 km, depending on trail

Modes:

  • By foot (40 -50min):
    • Follow the marked mountain trail heading southeast through Khashtarak farm or via Khachardzan river gorge.
    • Wear hiking shoes; trail is moderately challenging but rewarding.
  • By horseback (20–30 min):
    • Local guides offer horse rides from Semyonovka to the retreat. This is a beautiful and traditional way to travel.
  • By vehicle (20–30 min):
    • A 4WD vehicle can drive the forest access road (check conditions in wet weather).
    • Pickup can be arranged with retreat staff in advance.
